SPOKANE, Wash. – A former Spokane VA doctor found guilty of child rape was sentenced to multiple life sentences on Monday in federal court.
Craig Morgenstern was given a life sentence for each of the 12 counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse. He also received 30 year sentences for each of the 18 counts of Production of Child Pornography and another 20 years for two counts of Transportation of a Minor for Illicit Purposes and Receipt of Child Pornography.
Morgenstern was arrested in October 2014. Court documents said he assaulted numerous kids between 2008 and 2014 in Washington, Idaho, Mississippi and Tennessee. He was convicted on 34 counts on March 1.
The state of Washington suspended Morgenstern's medical license in January 2015 following his arrest and charges.
The prosecution said they found videos of boys unconscious being molested and one victim testified that Morgenstern gave him hot chocolate that did not taste right, a claim an expert testified and said the hot chocolate was drugged.
