Spokane police arrested convicted felon with short barrel shotgun, three (3) black powder handguns, multiple rounds of ammunition, methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A convicted felon was arrested Monday after he was caught painting a shotgun to make it look fake after Spokane police served a search warrant.

Spokane police developed information that a wanted subject, Elijah B. Zon, was staying at the Motel 6 on South Rustle Street.

Officials said Zon was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for second degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Police learned Zon was in possession of multiple firearms, ammunition and drugs.

Authorities said Zon is a convicted felon, which prohibits him from having any firearms.

Police eventually got a search warrant for the hotel room Zon had been staying in.

Police officials said Zon was in the process of painting a short barrel shotgun to look like a toy. The shotgun was painted green and yellow with an orange tip, hoping to disguise it as a fake gun, police said.

Zon was booked into the Spokane County Jail on four counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of unlawful firearm and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
