MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. – An escapee from Eastern State Hospital jumped into Medical Lake Saturday afternoon and refused to come out for several hours, according to authorities.
Law enforcement eventually got the man to come out of the water around 1:20 p.m. and put him in an ambulance.

Officials said he had some demands and wanted to talk to Major Crimes detectives. The man was also asking to speak to the media to tell his story and officials had asked media crews to step back.
The escapee was standing in the water that is about waist deep.
