SPOKANE, Wash --- The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is investigating a collision that sent one driver to the hospital near Mead on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies said around 4:15 p.m. they were alerted to a red Ford pickup, traveling north failed to stop at the stop sign at Lowe Road and East Day Mt. Spokane Road. The Ford collided with a Honda Accord traveling west on East Day Mt. Spokane Road.
Officials said the adult male driver of the Honda was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition as of Friday morning, deputies said.
Investigators responded to the scene and believe impairment was a factor. The driver of the Ford pickup had his blood drawn by authorities and it will be sent to the Washington State Crime Lab for testing.
The driver of the Ford could face charges of vehicular assault, which is a felony.
