SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The body of 24-year-old Spokane woman Loc Nguyen did not show any signs of trauma when it was recovered from the Spokane River on Jan. 30, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
The medical examiner identified Nguyen's body on Wednesday. The cause and manner of death are pending.
Nguyen has been missing since December. Police said she contacted her family and roommate on the evening of Dec. 3 after she finished work at Total Wines & More in north Spokane.
Nguyen’s phone sent a text to family members that day that read, “I go to my friends house I will be home late tonight.” This was the last contact Nguyen had with known friends or relatives, according to court documents.
Family members reported Nguyen as a missing person on Dec. 5, according to court documents. On that day, a man found a cellphone lying on the rocks in the Spokane River just off South Mirabeau Parkway. This area is near the Centennial Trail.
Detectives also found Nguyen’s silver 2009 Volkswagon Tiguan near the Mirabeau Park Trailhead that same day.
Police have not yet named a suspect in the case.
