Avista warns of changing water levels on Spokane River, Lake Coeur d'Alene

Avista officials said they expect the level of water above the dam to decrease over the next few days as they open spillway gates at the dam.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Avista is warning of changing water levels for Lake Coeur d’Alene and the Spokane River on Friday.

Shoreline property owners, boaters, lake and river users should be aware of fluctuating water levels for the Spokane River above the Post Falls Dam and Lake Coeur d’Alene.

Avista officials said they expect the level of water above the dam to decrease over the next few days as they open spillway gates at the dam to allow the additional water to pass. Spillway gates usually close around June 22 to hold Lake Coeur d’Alene at summer elevation levels.

Avista customers can access water flow information online or on their 24-hour telephone information line. In Washington call (509) 495-8043 and in Idaho call (208) 769-1357.
