SPOKANE, Wash. –The Spokane criminal who made headlines after being arrested 70 times went back to jail Friday.
Nicholas Limpert first became familiar with the courthouse when he was convicted for murder at the age of 15. On Friday, one of Spokane's most prolific criminal was sent back to jail Friday just three weeks after posting bond and being released.
His latest trial is scheduled to start May 26.
Over the years, Limpert's been arrested for dozens of minor crimes, yet has always ended up back on the streets.
Prosecutors told KREM 2 News on Wednesday that they plan to get tough on Limpert with his latest trial.
Limpert has been arrested 70 times, with the most recent case in July 2014.
Larry Haskell, the Spokane County prosecutor, said Limpert's history of crimes could final be catching up to him.
"It increases my concern as a prosecutor when someone makes a step up," Haskell said.
When Limpert's trial starts in May, 2 On Your Side discovered that prosecutors plan on talking about his past, and how his crimes have escalated over the years.
"The allegations are that he carried a knife and so that's going to carry a penalty if a jury finds guilt about that," Haskell said.
It all has to do with Limpert's offender score – a barometer used by the courts for repeat criminals.
Prosecutors said Limpert's offender score is 'nine plus; meaning he has been convicted of more than nine felonies.
As a result, prosecutors said they will push for Limpert to go to prison for at least ten years if he is convicted.
KREM 2 News has attempted to interview Mr. Limpert on two different occasions, offering him a chance to tell his story.
But both times, he has declined our offer.
