MEDICAL LAKE, Wash — Law enforcement took an armed man into custody Sunday night after he barricaded himself inside a home in Medical Lake.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 1000 block of North Olson Hill Court for reports of an armed man inside a home. That suspect was believed to be alone inside the house and to have fired several shots.
Several units, including SWAT and crisis negotiators, also responded to the scene. SCSO said during the standoff, the suspect pointed a rifle at one of the armored vehicles and then fired more shots inside the home.
At one point, neighbors were asked to shelter in place or to evacuate safely.
Crisis negotiators managed to coax the suspect out of the home unarmed around 9:50 p.m., according to officials.
The suspect was taken into custody. SCSO said he could face felony assault and additional charges.
