SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Treasurer’s Office announced it will hold its annual tax foreclosure auction on Monday, Dec. 9.
This year’s auction is estimated to include 29 parcels eligible for foreclosure, including both vacant land and properties with structures. Treasurer’s Office staff work with property owners to avoid foreclosure by connecting them with available assistance programs including those offered by Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners.
By state law, property is subject to foreclosure after a full year’s tax payments are delinquent for three or more years.
Interested parties can submit bids via the online auction site, Bid4Assets.com. Winning bidders will also pay through the website rather than in person at the Treasurer’s office. Bidding opens at 8 a.m. on Dec. 9 and online payments must be made by 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.
Instructions, details about bidding and information on how the auction operates are available at the Bid4Assets website.
Any property currently eligible for foreclosure may still be redeemed from auction until 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. To be redeemed, back taxes and any applicable fees must be paid to the Treasurer’s Office in full by cash or cashier’s check.
While any party may make payments to redeem tax foreclosure properties, Washington state law does not grant preferential rights to the property if paid by someone other than the property owner. State law also prohibits Spokane County employees or their agents from purchasing tax foreclosure parcels.
Minimum bid amounts are calculated to represent back taxes owed and other liens and fees on the property. Winning bid amounts above the minimum are considered excess funds and are returned to the previous owner of record.
Interested parties may view parcels subject to auction by visiting the Treasurer’s Office website. All parcels are sold as is and all sales are final.
Spokane County makes no guarantee or warranty of any kind, expressed or implied. Potential buyers are encouraged to seek legal counsel if additional information is required.
