As snow melts, crews continue to treat roadways in Spokane County, ask residents to help clear storm drains

Spokane County crews are now working to clear storm drains due to the rapid thaw of snow and ice.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Due to melting snow and rain, Spokane County roads are now seeing standing water in several locations.

Spokane County crews are now working to get close to storm drains to clear them from the rapid thaw of snow and ice.

The county is also asking residents to help clear the snow around mailboxes, fire hydrants, and storm drains to help with potential flooding.

Drivers are asked to remember that water sits on top of ice and snow, making the roads slick. The county is asking drivers to drive appropriately and to give plenty of room to stop.

Remember to stay 50 feet behind snow removal equipment.
