SPOKANE, Wash. — The first real snowfall of the year has made its way to Spokane County, and officials are working hard to make sure drivers stay safe out on the roads.

Spokane is expected to get up to two inches of snow Friday and an additional one to two inches is expected on Saturday. Since Thursday evening, Spokane County snow crews have been deicing, plowing and sanding roads to prepare drivers for the snowy weather.

Spokane County reminds drivers to stay 50 feet away from all snow plows and other snow removal equipment. The top priority for Spokane County are major arterials and emergency routes.

Snow removal crews predict roads could freeze overnight because of freezing temperatures. Drivers are told to slow down, give themselves more time to come to a stop and following distance.

After those roads, the county will target secondary arterials and hilly residential neighborhoods. Check out Spokane County's next snow plow routes below.
