SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County announced Thursday that burn restrictions implemented on July 2 will be rescinded on Friday, Oct. 25.

Outdoor recreational fires, including campfires, will be allowed to resume throughout all unincorporated areas of Spokane County, cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley.

Citizens may also begin to use backyard barbecues, chimineas, portable outdoor fireplaces, fire pits or other patio and deck warmers if approved fuel is used and other requirements are satisfied.

Even with the lifting of burn restrictions, Spokane County reminds residents to follow fire safety rules and use caution when tending to fires.

Spokane County says burning may still be temporarily restricted by the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency due to increasing fine particle levels (smoke) and air stagnation.

Residents can check the status of burn restrictions at the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency website under the "Burning" tab.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resource (DNR) lands may also have burn restrictions in place and should be consulted before burning. Burn restrictions can be found at DNR's "Outdoor Burning" website.
