Mayor Brown announced the appointment of Hall for the position on July 11, 2024.
An official start date is still being worked out, but Chief Hall is expected to start in his new position prior to September 1.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane City Council will vote on Monday to confirm Mayor Brown’s appointment of Kevin Hall to be the city’s newest police chief

Mayor Brown announced the appointment of Hall for the position on July 11, 2024.

Hall comes to Spokane after working in the Tucson Police Department for more than 30 years. He has worked across various departments during his time in law enforcement. Hall has led the Special Services and Innovation Bureau, Patrol Services Bureau, and worked in the Homicide, Home Invasion, Physical Child Abuse, SWAT, and Patrol units. In addition, he had served as Assistant Chief of Police since 2016.

Chief Hall said, “I am deeply honored to be selected as Spokane’s Police Chief, and want to thank Mayor Brown, her staff, and the search committee for their time and effort in this national search. I intend to bring a passion for collaboration, innovation, data-driven strategies, and value-based policing to Spokane that will propel the agency into a regional, if not national, public safety leader. This will require increased participation from the community as co-producers of public safety, which I am committed to facilitating and fostering. I am just as committed to the health and well-being of all the talented members of the agency, knowing that if the team members are not 100 percent, we cannot give 100 percent to those we serve.”

The Tucson Police Department shared the following comment about Chief Kevin Hall's selection with KREM 2 News:

"The Spokane Police Department is gaining a great partner by hiring Chief Hall, who will bring his vast experience, innovation, and passion for the policing profession. He will undoubtedly contribute to holistic approaches to building safe communities."
