SPOKANE, Wash. — This week's legislative meeting between Spokane City Council members was abruptly cut short after protestors in support of Palestine "repeatedly violated Open Forum rules", according to the council.
Council members left the meeting before they could discuss any of the items on this week's consent agenda, which included potentially adding Spokane's Parkade attraction to the city's register of historic places.
“At the start of Open Forum every week, including this week, I remind public participants of our mutual duty of respect and highlight applicable sections of our Council rules regarding decorum and directing all remarks to the Council President,” Council President Lori Kinnear said. "This evening, after several attempts to manage points of order and maintain decorum in chambers, I was met with defiance and decided to recess the meeting.”
Council members say those agenda items will likely be discussed at a future meeting.
