Spokane air quality sitting at moderate, could reach unhealthy range

Moderate air quality means the air could be unhealthy for some sensitive groups.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Hazy conditions are settling in throughout the Inland Northwest in the wake of the Upriver Beacon Fire.

As of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the air quality in our area is Moderate. That is according to data from the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency. Moderate air quality means the air could be unhealthy for some sensitive groups.

Air quality is expected to be moderate on Thursday, too.

Breezy winds could improve conditions later Wednesday. Depending on winds and fire activity, air quality may briefly reach the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range before returning to the Moderate range on Thursday.

Visit the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency website for the current air quality index and a map of monitoring stations.
