SPOKANE, Wash. — Flags in Spokane and North Idaho will be flown at half-staff to honor the victims who were killed during the shooting in Lewiston, Maine earlier this week.

Governor Brad Little and the City of Spokane say they are following the order that was handed down by President Biden.

Mayor Nadine Woodward released a statement saying: “Spokane sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to all those touched by the devastating tragedy in Maine. We join the country in mourning those who have lost their lives in this senseless act of violence.”

Biden’s order to fly flags at half-staff overlaps with an existing half-staff flag directive from Governor Brad Little to honor 36-year-old Post Falls Police Officer Nicholas McDaniel who died from a heart attack while on patrol.

All flags in the region will be flown at half-staff through sunset on Monday, October 30.
