SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho – A Shoshone County Sheriff Deputy shot an killed a dog after being bit twice Friday.

The Shoshone County Sherriff's Office responded to an animal complaint, in Burke Canyon area, of Wallace, Idaho. The animal was described as a large dog and a Pitbull that was running at large.

The reporting part stated the dog at large was aggressive, keeping her from leaving her home.

Once the Deputy arrived on scene and began to investigate, the dog that was reported as running at large advanced toward the Deputy in an aggressive manner and bit him on the lower leg.

The deputy retreated, but the dog advanced a second time biting the deputy on the thigh.

Since retreating from the dog was an ineffective measure to neutralize the threat of danger the dog posed to the deputy, the deputy shot and killed the dog.

The Deputy went to Shoshone Medical Center where he was treated for bite wounds and released.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate the owner of the animal for notification.

The breed of the dog has yet to be confirmed.
