Here are the key shipping deadlines for mailing holiday gifts

USPS, UPS and FedEx have deadlines that people should ship by to ensure Christmas gifts make it under the tree.

SPOKANE, Wash. — With Christmas just around the corner and holiday shopping underway, USPS reminds people to be aware of shipping deadlines to ensure that gifts make it to their destination in time to go under the Christmas tree. 

Here's a quick rundown of the most important dates.

USPS within the U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii: 

  • Standard ground shipping and First Class Mail deadline is on Dec. 18
  • Priority Mail is on Dec. 19
  • Priority Mail Express is on Dec. 21

  • Three-day Select is Dec. 19
  • Second-day Air is Dec. 20
  • Next day Air is Dec. 23
