Downtown Spokane streets reopen after Pride crosswalk is repainted following last month's vandalism

Spokane Arts previously told KREM 2 that it is expected to cost around $14,000 to repair and the money would come out of a mural repair fund.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane has reopened Spokane Falls Blvd. from Stevens Street to Howard Street. The streets were closed for over 24 hours in order for the Pride crosswalk to be repainted.

In addition, Howard from Main Avenue to Spokane Blvd. were also closed but have since reopened.

Last month the Pride crosswalk was vandalized and set on fire. Spokane Arts and Spokane Pride announced a few days later that they raised enough money to repaint the crosswalk.

According to Spokane Pride, the funding required to repair the crosswalk was donated, and no municipal funds were used to repaint the surface.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article did not provide enough context that the funds to repair the Pride crosswalk in Spokane were raised through donations.
