Fairchild Air Force Base lifts shelter-in-place order

In a statement, a spokesperson for the base said that emergency personnel responded to the area and are conducting response procedures.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Fairchild Air Force Base  was under a shelter-in-place order for over two hours on Friday morning due to a security response at the main gate.

Emergency personnel responded to the area and conducted response procedures. There was a 1,000-foot cordon in place. Areas within the cordon were directed to shelter-in-place. Some areas included Lilac Housing and the childcare center.

Base Fire Chief, Jason Rudy, said, "During our routine entry procedures, we had an abnormality on it which caused us to basically implement our emergency response plan. Our professional responders responded out immediately and executed a textbook response and determined it was no threat or hazard to the base and terminated the response."
