SANDPOINT, Idaho — Schweitzer will open for an early weekend of skiing from Friday, Nov. 22 to Sunday, Nov, 24 as the official kickoff to the 2024-2025 winter season.
Schweitzer says more than five feet of natural snow has fallen to blanket the slopes during the month and has received 15 inches in just the last 24 hours.
“What a difference a year makes,” said Tom Chasse, Schweitzer's chief operations officer. “The terrain we plan to open this weekend is the most we’ve been able to offer on opening weekend in at least 6 years. Our team is fired up for the La Niña winter and can’t wait to welcome back our longtime locals and those who are visiting Schweitzer for the first time this season.”
The Basin Express, Lakeview Triple and Musical Carpet slopes along with associated terrain are all expected to open Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the potential for additional terrain and lifts to be added throughout the weekend.
Season pass holders, including Sunday through Friday pass holders and day guests are invited to get in a few early season turns all weekend long. Lift tickets are available for purchase for $50 both online and at the mountain.
The mountain will close Monday, Nov. 25 through Thursday, Nov. 28 for continued snowmaking and slope maintenance operations. Schweitzer will reopen for daily operations beginning Friday, Nov. 29.
Access to additional lifts and terrain will continue to expand as conditions permit. People can stay up-to-date on mountain conditions and lift operations on Schweitzer's website.
