SANDPOINT, Idaho — The winter season will be here before we know it, and Schweitzer is introducing some new activities for guests this year.

Schweitzer said it is launching Schweitzer Backcountry Adventures this winter. Skiers and snowboarders will have the chance to go on guided snowcat and snowmobile tours.

Schweitzer said the all-day excursions present eight runs and 10,000 vertical feet of skiing and riding. Schweitzer also said the snowcat area includes over 75 west-facing fall line trails.

Families can also take part in guided snowmobile tours starting in mid-December, depending on the weather. The 2.5-hour day trips will give guests the chance to see the resort's backcountry.

Some other new additions at Schweitzer include the following

  • Snowcat dinners in February and March at Sky House
  • Wine pairing dinners in December, January and April and Spring Patio DJ sessions in late March and April (weather permitting) at Crow's Bench
  • Guided half-day or full-day tours at Schweitzer's Ski & Ride School
  • Newly expanded facial services at Cambium Spa

Schweitzer passes are now on sale. Schweitzer unlimited passes are available at a reduced price right now until October 31.
