Volunteers from Fairchild Air Force Base package Treats 2 Troops boxes

The donations were immense. Thousands of cards, coffees, candy, beef jerky packs, games, and snacks were gathered during the month-long campaign in October.

SPOKANE, Wash. — While a storm raged outside this week, KREM 2, Washington Trust Bank and volunteers from Fairchild Air Force Base gathered up donated treats and prepared to send them around the world to deployed military members.

The annual KREM Cares Treats 2 Troops campaign wrapped up with 200 packages being filled and mailed to deployed Fairchild team members.  Those packages will go to every part of the globe to accomplish the Treats 2 Troops mission:  providing a holiday care package to every Fairchild airman deployed during the holidays.

The donations were immense. Thousands of cards, coffees, candy, beef jerky packs, games, and snacks were gathered during the month-long campaign in October.

Fairchild volunteers spent hours organizing the thousands of donations so that each package got a little bit of something that will bring a smile to people serving far from their families.  Leftover treats will be packaged in big boxes to send over to teams that may be transitioning during the holidays or given to currently serving military members on base.  Everything you donated is used and appreciated.

It takes a team effort to get this done.  A very special thank you to Washington Trust Bank for providing drop-off sites for all the treats that are given by KREM 2 viewers and the public. The bank also pays to ship the packages through the US Postal Service.  The Fairchild Spouses' Club provides the logistics and support to get each deployed member a package with their address and location.   Northern Quest Casino and Resort supports our military and veteran campaigns throughout the year.

The 2022 campaign is closed for the season but we wanted you to know.  We remember, we didn't forget, and a package is on its way.

Our men and women serving will feel the love from the Inland Northwest.

Good job, everyone!
