SPOKANE, Wash. -- The annual Easter egg hunt at Riverfront Park is cancelled because of a mix-up with its usual backer.
Riverfront Park Manager Craig Butz says there was a miscommunication between KIX 96, a sponsor of the event for many years. Butz says he believed KIX's owner Clear Channel would find another sponsor. The promoters typically take care of the hunt. The park simply serves as a venue.
Riverfront learned of the cancellation two weeks ago but Butz says it's too late to find another sponsor to put together an event of its usual size, meaning 7,000 eggs.
