Post Street Bridge reopens following four-year closure

The bridge closed in 2020 to start the rebuild, which cost the City of Spokane $21 million.

SPOKANE, Wash. — After four long years, the Post Street Bridge is officially and finally back open.

The bridge will be open for cars with one northbound lane, and people will be able to drive from Post Street to Lincoln Street over the river

The City originally built the bridge in 1917 before making it a pedestrian bridge in 2019 when a structural analysis found the bridge couldn't hold the weight of cars anymore.

The bridge closed in 2020 to start the rebuild, which cost the City of Spokane $21 million.

The new bridge also has pedestrians and bike lanes, along with planters and benches along it.

The City of Spokane says businesses in the area are also excited for the bridge to reopen.

Spokane City leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate. You can watch the full ceremony and press conference below.
