Post Falls City Council seeking applicants for vacant council seat

Following the resignation of Councilmember Kenny Shove, the Post Falls City Council has opened applications to fill the vacant seat.

POST FALLS, Idaho — The City of Post Falls announced on Wednesday that it is accepting applications to replace City Council Member Kenny Shove following his resignation. 

Post Falls Mayor Ron Jacobson invites qualified residents to apply for the appointment to Council Seat #6. Applications can be found on the city website.

If selected, the appointee will serve until January 2026. This seat will be up for election in November 2025, at which time the appointee may run to retain the position. 

City Council members serve as the City’s legislative, policy and budget authority, including decisions on land use, ordinances and budget approvals. Meetings are held at 5 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, with additional meetings as needed. 

Applicants must be: 

  • At least 18 years old
  • A U.S. citizen residing within Post Falls for at least 30 days before applying 
  • A registered voter

Preferred qualifications include prior service on a city board or commission and active community involvement. 

Interested candidates should submit an application, resume, cover letter and references. 

Applications are due by 12 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024. Applications can be dropped off in-person at the Post Falls City Hall or via email to cityclerk@postfalls.gov.
