Delivery for J.P. Crawford? Seattle Mariners fan sends pizza to player tossed from game

J.P. Crawford was tossed from a game vs. the Guardians but Seattle Mariners fans made sure he felt support and love

SEATTLE — A Seattle Mariners fan decided to go the extra inning and send shortstop J.P. Crawford a surprise after he was tossed from Wednesday's game.

A high-strike zone call frustrated J.P. Crawford which resulted in the umpire tossing him from the game against the Cleveland Guardians. Manager Scott Servais was also tossed after arguing with the umpire over the call.

Longtime Mariners fan Jonathan Jick was watching the game from home and decided to do something to show support for J.P. after what many are calling an unfair call.

Jick opened up UberEats and decided to send J.P. Crawford some ballpark food.

"Let's get him something that's, you know, a classic. So we went with a pepperoni pan pizza and and got him a coke and thought that would work," Jick said.

An UberEats delivery driver named Rayshon picked up the pizza from Dominos and dropped it off during the game in Cleveland.

"J.P.'s response was basically just, 'You're real one' with a handshake emoji and took a picture of the pizza," Jick said.

The Mariners also shared a picture of J.P. with the pizza saying, "package secured."

Jick decided to share the delivery driver's Cashapp information to his followers on X because hundreds of fans wanted to tip him.

"So Rayshon went that extra mile, took care of us. I'm really glad that it seems like the mariners online community was able to take care of him as well," Jick said.

Rayshon sent a message of gratitude to Jick on Thursday, Jun 20, that read: "I had a great day last night. I really appreciate you and your fans! You all helped me a great deal. You all have a Blessed week!"

Jick didn't want to take credit for this idea. A pizza delivery has happened before.

In 2022, a brawl between the Mariners and Angels got a lot of attention. After that moment, a Mariners fan delivered pizza to Jesse Winker who was hit by a pitch and then had some words for the Angels which led to the benches clearing and a fight on the field.

A few games later, five to be exact, the Mariners then went on to win 14 in a row. From that point on, the Mariners went 56-32 which was the second-best record in the American League during that span, according to Alex Mayer with the Mariners Baseball Communications.

"Hopefully, Friday is the start of a nice long winning streak for us, too," Jick said.
