Spokane dog owners gain more options as High Bridge Dog Park reopens

Some of the upgrades at the park include new large and small dog areas, fencing, gates, both improved entry and exit areas and an ADA-accessible dog park area.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Dog owners across Spokane will have one more park as an option to take their four-legged friends. The High Bridge Dog Park will reopen on Monday after being closed for several months for renovations.

The dog park will have a soft opening on Monday, but the full renovations are expected to be completed by spring 2025.

Some of the upgrades at the park include new large and small dog areas, fencing, gates, both improved entry and exit areas and an ADA accessible dog park area.

There were also upgrades made to the parking lot which includes expanded paved parking and surfacing improvements.

The community will have many more upgrades to look forward to when they are finished next spring. Those upgrades include new seating, shelter, water fountains, and improved lighting.

“We’re pleased to soft-open the renovated High Bridge dog park for visitors to enjoy, and look forward to its full completion in the spring,” said Jason Conley, interim director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation. “The renovation of High Bridge dog park helps meet a community desire identified in our Parks and Natural Lands Master Plan.”

High Bridge Dog Park officially serves as one of the two replacements for the unofficial South Hill dog park that was displaces by the construction of Peperzak Middle School.

Earlier in October a smaller neighborhood dog park opened on the South Hill on the corner of 63rd and Regal.

Both projects were funded by Spokane Public Schools but will be operated by the city Parks and Recreation department.
