We asked for help and people responded. THANK YOU.
KREM 2 and our partners are grateful for everyone who helped with the 2017 KREM 2 Diaper Drive. It was a huge success. Below we talk about the numbers but understand that those only tell part of the story. Behind each diaper number is a baby that is kept warm, safe, and dry. Each number represents someone in the community that cared to help a family in need.
And the fundraising continues because the need continues. Please check out the upcoming event at Triple Play to support the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery and the diaper supply.
Here’s a look at the numbers: KREM 2, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Rosauers and our many partners we have helped supply families with more than 1.3 million diapers over the past nine years. This year, the KREM 2 Diaper Drive will supply the nursery with approximately 4,000 diaper bags. Each bag contains fifty diapers and a package of wipes. That’s approximately 200,000 diapers! More diapers were donated and those numbers are still being tallied. Those diapers will be put to good use. The Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery estimates that 1 in 3 families request help with diapers. The diaper drive bags will enable those families to dedicated stretched resources to other needs like food, bills, and other baby related expenses.
We are especially grateful to the community members and businesses that supported the cause. United Healthcare Community Plan sponsored the KREM 2 Diaper Drive for the first time this year. The consistent messaging helped us get the word out. Washington Trust gave a $5,000.00 for the ninth year in a row. The bank is a long-time supporter of the KREM 2 Diaper Drive and the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Larry H. Miller gifted the Diaper Drive $5,000.00. Western States also supported the cause with a $1,000.00 check and donated diapers.
As we said, the need continues. Join us on June 2nd at Triple Play for a Vanessa Behan fundraiser. Bring the whole family from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. to help raise funds for the cause. We’ll see you there.
