SPOKANE, Wash. — One man is in the hospital after reportedly getting shot during a brief fight on 2nd and Division.
According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), the suspect, 18-year-old Richard Smith, pulled out a gun when a group of people on 2nd and Division got into a fight. The suspect then shot another man, who was transferred to the hospital to get treatment for gunshot wounds.
SPD reportedly spoke to others on the scene who may or may not know Smith. SPD said they found a possible location tied to the suspect.
SPD said there was brief standoff between officers and Smith. The suspect was reportedly arrested without incident by SPD.
Smith is charged with assault. SPD said the investigation is ongoing.
