Wildfire burning near Wenatchee now 30 percent contained

WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Rocky Reach Fire burning near Wenatchee has grown to 3,427 acres and is 30 percent contained as of Monday afternoon.

The fire started on the southwest flank of Burch Mountain about five miles northeast of Wenatchee on Friday night.

Level 1 advisory for Burch Mountain was canceled at noon Monday. Burch Mountain Road remains closed to the public at the end of the pavement until further notice so fire crews can access the burn area and conduct mop up operations. The Swakane remains at a level 1 fire advisory status until further notice.

Officials said the airspace over the fire area is closed to all aircraft below 7,500 feet, including drones, except for those assigned to the incident.

A total of 241 firefighters are working to put out the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
