ID=71828444EDGEWOOD, Wash. -- In Edgewood, there's now a tall reminder that a somber anniversary is approaching.

The replica World Trade Center twin towers stand more than 33 feet tall at the corner of 36th St E and 108th Ave E, where they're getting a lot of attention from people driving past.

"I was blown away," said Brian Slate, one of several people who visited, Sunday.

Tim Jorgensen, who built the structures, hopes people will pause, look up, and think for just a few moments about what 9/11 means.

"It really just affected me deeply," he said.

Jorgensen, who works on HVAC systems for a living, spent more than $12,000 of his own savings to design and build the acryclic and steel towers.

"I'm actually quite impressed with my dad on all this stuff because he literally just saw this in his head and started making it," said Mikayla Jorgensen, Tim's daughter.

They completed the project this weekend.

"I took all this last week off of work just to get it done and finish it in time," he said.

Jorgensen's connection to 9/11 was like that of so many others, who watched helplessly on TV as the attacks played out. Jorgensen didn't know anyone who died and has never visited the 9/11 memorial in New York City.

"I think I feel it more as time goes on," he said.

"I've seen him working on it, and thought 'what's he doing?'" said Lisa Gould-Fadaie, who lives nearby, "It's incredible, it's just incredible."

The towers, which are topped with 9/11 memorial flags, will stand for 14 days before Jorgensen takes them down.

He plans to put them up every September.

"If the wind blows and all four flags are going the same direction, it's just hard to explain," said Jorgensen, looking up, "it's just beautiful."
