DAYTON, Wash. – The North Touchet Fire near Dayton is burning an estimated 550 acres and is threatening 15 residences, according to Washington State Patrol.
The fire started at approximately 4:41 p.m. Saturday and was 80% contained as of Sunday night. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Twenty-five residences were under Level 3 evacuations and 100 residences are under Level 1 evacuation order. Officials said Sunday night all evacuation orders have been lowered to a Level 1, which mean residents need to stay alert.
Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered 6 wild land strike teams to supplement the resources already fighting the fire. One helicopter is in the air helping crews on the ground. So far, no structures have been lost.
