CALDWELL, Idaho - Idaho State Police are investigating a deadly two vehicle crash on Highway 55 at milepost 7.6 in Canyon County.
The crash occurred near Chicken Dinner Rd at about 6:45 p.m. Highway 55 was blocked for several hours.
Idaho State Police say Melissa Loucks, 39, of Marsing, was northbound in a 2012 Ford Fusion. Carolina Estrada-Hernandez, 18, of Caldwell, was southbound in a 2001 Ford Taurus. Estrado-Hernandez crossed the center line and hit the Fusion on the front passenger side, according to police. The Taurus rolled on its top.
Police say Estrada-Hernandez' passenger, Vanessa Mendoza, 18, of Caldwell, was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken by ambulance to West Valley Medical Center, in Caldwell where she later died. Two juvenile passengers and three passengers from Loucks' vehicle were transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
No one in Loucks' car was wearing a seatbelt, and one passenger in Estrada-Hernandez' vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
