RATHDRUM, Idaho — Fire crews are monitoring a fire that broke out at a mobile home in the 7000 block of West Winchester in Rathdrum on Saturday afternoon.
Northern Lakes Fire District (NLFD) PIO Chris Larson said that the fire is contained, but crews will remain on the scene for the next several hours to monitor for hot spots.
For the safety of the crews still at the scene, Larson asks that the public avoid the area.
The fire spread from the mobile home to a garage, shop, outbuilding and about 1.5 acres of brush in the surrounding area.
NLFD has called in the Idaho Department of Lands to help monitor the fire for hot spots that could crop up due to the hot weather.
The fire's cause was determined accidental by NLFD and is under investigation. No one was injured.
Larson said the utilities company is at the scene in case the fire does spread into the trees. If the power lines are threatened, they will be shut down — which is standard procedure.
