MEAD, Wash. — The Mead High School (MHS) cheer team took home gold at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) State Championship for cheer on Friday.
The team took home first place for 3A Non-Tumbling Medium on Friday with a score of 77.2.
According to the cheer team's Instagram, “Gold team headed to Battleground to defend their state title, and not only did they accomplish that goal, but they also had the HIGHEST scoring Non Tumbling routine across the entire state!”
The cheer team’s “Game Day'' also won a 2nd place trophy in the 2A/3A large category, scoring in the top 10 teams across Washington state. The team received a score of 82.5.
MHS' cheer will head to Anaheim, Calif. to compete in the USA Spirit National championship on February 16-18.
