SPOKANE -- A Spokane family is still trying to bounce back from a devastating boating accident two years ago. The Newman Lake accident left a Spokane mother without an arm. Now Alana Kienal is trying to buy a prosthetic. Alana needs about $7,000. This weekend, the Kienal's are holding a massive yard sale to meet that goal.

Family, friends, and complete strangers have been stepping forward collecting and donating everything they can for this fundraiser.

Nearly two years to the day since Alana Kienal's arm was severed by a boat propeller, the family is still taking it day by day.

'It was an accident and we just had to move through that. It was a little rocky, the recovery,' said Alana.

Alana and some friends were drinking on the family's boat back in May of 2008 when her husband accidentally threw her off. Alana went to the hospital in critical condition with a collapsed lung, ruptured spleen and broken ribs. Her husband was thrown in jail for it, but later released.

Now the family is focusing on the electric hook Alana says will change her life. The hook is magnetically attached to the nerves in her arm. She hopes together, the family can move forward.

The yard sale will take place Friday, May 14 through Sunday, May 16 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. at 13706 East Broadway Avenue.
