Idaho State Police investigating crash that killed one on Highway 95 south of Moscow

Idaho State Police says a 40-year-old driver hit another car stopped in traffic on Highway 95 and swerved off the road.

MOSCOW, Idaho — Idaho State Police is investigating a crash that killed a man on Highway 95 south of Moscow on Monday morning. 

ISP says a 40-year-old driver from Lewiston was traveling north on the highway near Eid Road when he approached stopped traffic due to construction in the area. The driver swerved, striking another car and then drove off the right shoulder into an embankment. 

ISP says the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was severely injured in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The driver of the car that was hit, a 65-year-old from Lewiston, was uninjured and cooperated with investigating officers on the scene.  

The highway was closed for approximately 3 hours while agencies responded and investigated the crash. 

The Latah County Sheriff’s Office, Moscow Fire and EMS and the Idaho Transportation Department assisted with the incident.
