MOSCOW, Idaho — A man was arrested on Wednesday night and charged with attempted homicide after he allegedly stabbed a family member multiple times.

The Moscow Police Department (MPD) says officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday near North Washington Street.

MPD says the caller told dispatchers they heard a commotion and when they entered the living room, saw the victim restraining the suspect on the ground.

MPD says when officers arrived at the scene the 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody and the 73-year-old victim was taken to Gritman Medical Center by ambulance to be treated for multiple stab wounds. MPD says the victim's status is unknown as of Thursday morning.

MPD says during early investigation it was found that the suspect and the victim are family members. MPD has not released the identities of either man.

The suspect was taken to the Latah County Jail and is being charged with attempted homicide.
