QUINCY, Wash. — Late Monday night, Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies and Quincy Police Department answered a call for a burglary in progress in the 13800 block of Martin Road Northwest, according to a Facebook post by GCSO.
The owner, who was in western Washington at the time, used a surveillance camera app to watch as two people went on his property and one of those people broke into his shop.
When Grant County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found a Toyota Sequoia across the road, hidden behind apple bins. A woman found in the backseat of the car was detained for questioning, before being released for a short time because there was no probable cause for arrest yet.
Deputies launched a drone and found a man hiding beneath plastic orchard material. From video footage, they confirmed that he was the man who broke into the shop.
The man, 42-year-old Justin Cromwell of Marysville, Washington, was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for investigation of second-degree burglary.
The Toyota Sequoia matched images posted by locals who recorded suspicious vehicles in their neighborhoods. It was taken in as evidence.
