SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Mayor-elect Lisa Brown announced her plans for two more people in her cabinet for her upcoming mayoral term in Spokane.
Mayor-elect Brown appointed Maggie Yates as assistant city administrator, while Justin Lundgren will continue his role as interim police chief. Brown appointed both to focus on public safety issues in the city.
“I am honored and excited to serve the city in this position,” Yates said. “Mayor-elect Brown and I are aligned on a vision for public safety and just outcomes, with a focus on regional collaboration.”
The future assistant city administrator will focus her role on strengthening public safety. Yates was Spokane’s longest-serving regional law and justice administrator from 2018 to 2022. She recently ran for a seat on the Spokane County Commission seat in District Five.
Interim Police Chief Justin Lundgren has worked with the Spokane Police Department since 1997. Both Lundgren and Yates will help lead the search for a new police chief in Spokane. Yates herself will oversee the process.
