SPOKANE, Wash. — A local spa abruptly closed its doors this week, leaving clients wondering about services they say they've already paid for.
Some clients had no idea the closure was coming.
Louisville Laser and Spa on Division Street showed no previous indication of its closing this week. Many customers will pay ahead of time for appointment packages, but with the notice of the closure, the question boils down to this: will they get their money back?
Ariana Kamaliazad has been a Louisville Laser and Spa customer for five months. She, like other customers, are learning that the business has closed with appointment packages she's since paid for.
"It's about $1,600, so that's a lot of money," Kamaliazad said.
The business posted to social media offering a contact email for its inquiring customers. At the actual location, another email contact is posted on the door, outside of the now vacant building.
Customers like Jessica Schoenfeld said they still are owed services through packages they paid for ahead of time, a week before her wedding.
"I just showed up for my noon appointment that I scheduled earlier this week, and the closed sign is on the door, and I didn't hear anything and didn't get anything, emails, calls, messages, anything," Schoenfeld said.
It's leaving Schoenfeld and Kamaliazad worried about where to go from here.
"I'm basically leaving all of that money on the table unless I can get it back from the bank," Schoenfeld said.
KREM 2 News reached out to the owner of the spa, Cynthia Shaw, for comment on the business closing, but did not hear back. Customers KREM 2 spoke with said they are reaching out, but the business has shut down their Instagram and blocked comments on Facebook.
It's important to note if a charge appears for a transaction that did not occur, you're encouraged to contact your credit card company within 60 days of the statement appearing on your card for next steps.
After our story aired, a family member of the owner called KREM 2 and said they would be releasing more information next week.
