Woman who spotted cougars in her yard: 'I never thought I'd actually get to see one'

Yvonne Reppe's Tuesday morning workout was interrupted by some unexpected visitors.

LINCOLN, Wash. -- It's an incredible video that captured two cougars together outside a couple's home along Lake Roosevelt.

The video has been viewed 374,000 times and counting on KREM 2’s Facebook page.

Yvonne Reppe's Tuesday morning workout was interrupted by some unexpected visitors.

"I glanced up and thought that one of my neighbor’s dogs had come around the fence," she said.

But it was not. Reppe found herself face-to-face with two mountain lions and the only thing separating them was her patio door. She grabbed her phone and started recording as they got pretty cozy in her yard. One even took a little stroll, taking in the view.

"Stared at each other for a while. We just sat and stared at each other forever," she explained. "The small one came around the end of this fence and I zoomed in on her, so I could get a good look and that point that's when the other one came down the hill and joined her."

It is not unusual for Reppe to see wild animals near her Lincoln, Washington home. It over looks Lake Roosevelt on the top of a hill surrounded by forest. She never expected to see a cougar, let alone two.

"I'd never seen one, so to actually see one and have it this close and be able to really get a good view of it and for there to be two, that was really impressive," she said.

She is not the only one who thinks so. The video she took has since gone viral in our area. She has even heard from several different wild life experts.

"Everyone is interested in seeing a part of nature they don't normally get to see. I've always known they were here, but I never thought I'd actually get to see one," she explained.

After her close encounter with these curious cougars, Reppe said she is not worried.

“We moved into their area, they didn't move into ours," she said.
