SPOKANE, Wash. — Electric scooters and bikes have found their way back to the Inland Northwest.
Lime, the popular e-scooter and e-bike manufacturer, announced Wednesday it relaunched both scooters and bikes in Spokane Valley, Airway Heights and Newport this week. The company said it hopes to build on the success its program saw last year in the Inland Northwest, to include the city of Spokane.
Lime is not active in Spokane currently, but the company said it hopes to resume its partnership and bring scooters back to Spokane sidewalks in the future.
“We’re excited to be back in Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, and Newport in time for spring and we hope residents pick up right where they left off," said Hayden Harvey, Lime's Director of Government Relations. "Last year riders set records locally and Lime had an amazing 2023 around the world so we stand ready to make the investments needed to support continued growth of sustainable transportation options in and around Spokane."
Lime reported more than 592,000 rides in the Spokane region, saying ridership in the area grew by 42% in 2023. Lime is working with the City of Spokane to resume their partnership, bringing rides to people all over the Inland Northwest. The scooters in Spokane were upgraded to the Gen4 e-scooter in 2023. According to Lime, Spokane riders took more than 2.3 million rides and traveled more than 2.5 million miles since launching in 2018.
