Lawyer for 2 men killed in Boise hangar collapse said bodies are arriving in Guatemala

Attorney Enrique Serna said Mario Sontay's body arrived in Guatemala today and Mariano Coc Och's is expected to arrive tomorrow.

BOISE, Idaho — Enrique Serna, the attorney for two of the men killed in the hangar collapse at the Boise Airport, said their bodies are arriving in Guatemala. In a news conference on Friday, Feb. 16, Serna said Mario Sontay's body arrived in Guatemala today and Mariano Coc Och's is expected to arrive tomorrow.

Serna said the bodies will then be taken to Carchá, a town in the Guatemalan mountains where the two are from. Serna furthered that both families said they want justice for their loved ones and don't want anyone to go through what has happened to them.

In regard to any legal action the families might take, Serna said he will not take a shotgun approach and has sat down with engineers, gathered evidence and conducted interviews.

"We want it to be very targeted because lawsuits matter," Serna said.

The attorney also stated he has some documentation, but is waiting for more and is not ready to disclose any information.

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, three men died when the Boise Airport hangar collapsed as construction workers were active on site. Nine other people were injured in the incident. The last update provided on those injured, was that five of the nine were in critical condition.

Members from Boise Fire Department, Boise Airport, Ada County Paramedics and Boise Police Department took turns addressing the public in a news conference Feb. 2, recognizing the disaster and applauding the first responders.

Officials also briefly discussed the status of the collapse investigation - essentially stating that they could not discuss much, as the incident is actively being investigated by OSHA.

According to Idaho Secretary of State records, Big D Builders was the construction company building the hangar at the time of the collapse. The brother of Big D Builders' owner was among the dead.
