DEARY, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Lands announced on Mohat the Prospect Fire in Latah County is 100 percent contained after burning 333 acres.
Crews will continue to mop up the interior and patrol the permieter of the fire.
Fire crews used information gained from unmanned aircraft to attack hot spots, according to an IDL release.
On Thursday morning, the Northern Rockies Type 2 Incident Management team took over control of the efforts to fight the Prospect Fire, according to the IDL.
According to the IDL, the fire burnt through heavy logging slash, which are byproducts of logging efforts such as woodchips, fallen logs and stumps.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The early season nature of the fire made it somewhat difficult to call out crews, IDL said. Most seasonal crews aren't working just yet and new firefighters are not typically trained until the first week of June.
The U.S Forest Service, Nez Perce Tribe, PotlatchDeltic and the Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association assisted the IDL in fighting the fire, according to the release. Six engines and heavy equipment fought the fire with additional help from air resources.
A temporary flight restriction has been placed on the area to help keep fire aircraft operations safe, according to the IDL.
