MOSCOW, Idaho – Parks and paths in Moscow are closed Thursday due to localized flooding.
The National Weather Service reported Paradise Creek in Moscow - on the University of Idaho campus - was above the flood stage as of Thursday morning. People at the University of Idaho said the water was high, but not above the bank yet, as of Thursday afternoon.
Thursday afternoon, the river was at 9.44 ft., while official flood stage is 9.2. Latah County, along with Bonner, Boundary, Benewah, Kootenai, Adams, Whitman, Lincoln Stevens, Spokane and Pend Oreille counties were placed under an official flood warning from the NWS on Thursday.
The flood warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday night.
City officials closed the athletic fields and dog park at Mountain View Park, the pathway at Heron’s Hideout and the pathway at Berman Creekside Park from Styner Avenue to Highway 95.
City leaders are asking the public not to enter these areas for safety reasons.
