ATHOL, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game captured the young grizzly bear it's been looking for since Saturday.
An Athol family filmed the two-and-a-half-year-old male grizzly bear in their yard Sunday night. According to IDFG, the bear was chasing sheep and raiding chicken coops in the Athol, Garwood and Chilco area.
He was found in a culvert trap Wednesday night, west of Chilco.
The bear weighs 176 lbs and officials said he appears to be healthy. He was relocated to the Cabinet Mountains near the Idaho-Montana border Thursday.
Wildlife experts put a radio collar on him, measured him and took DNA samples. Officials plan on monitoring the grizzly bear for at least two years.
The Athol family who filmed the video said they were relieved he was found and relocated.
