Sgt. Greg Moore honored with sign along Highway 95

The Coeur d'Alene HS football team and other city leaders unveiled new Adopt-A-Highway sign for Sgt. Greg Moore Tuesday.

ID=30787235COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Idaho Transportation Department unveiled a new Adopt-A-Highway sign Tuesday in honor of fallen police officer, Sergeant Greg Moore.

Moore, of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department, was shot and killed May 5 while on duty. Family, friends and colleagues all gathered Tuesday at the intersection of West Haycraft Avenue and U.S. Highway 95 as the sign was revealed.

There are two other Adopt-A-Highway signs along Highway 95 which were put up. One sign honors Linda Huff, the Idaho State Police Trooper who was shot outside of her work in June 1998. The sign is located right before the Silverwood Theme Park exit.

The third sign is labeled for the Coeur d'Alene High School football team, who along with the ITD and other city leaders, were behind the idea of these Adopt-A-Highway signs.

The project began when the Coeur d'Alene High School football team was looking for a community project and wanted to honor local heroes. One of their coaches, who is also a police officer, helped to get the project moving forward.

Part of the roadway the football team wanted to adopt was covered by Hippo Car Wash. However, the local business had no problem letting the football team take over the section to honor fallen heroes.
