COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Several people took the stand in a North Idaho murder trial this week.
More than 20 defense witnesses were called Thursday during the Eldon Samuel III's double murder trial.
Samuel is being charged as an adult in the killing of his 46-year-old father, Eldon Samuel Jr., and his 13-year-old brother, Jonathan Samuel, on March 24, 2014.
Witnesses said the younger brother, Jonathan Samuel, had autism and spent most of his time in Eldon's care.
Social workers testified that Samuel's parents were often on drugs or fighting.
The defense team is trying to show that Samuel killed his father in self defense.
